Ode to the Clawfoot

My post yesterday got me to thinking about clawfoot tubs and how they have been replaced with these nasty plastic eye sores.
My husband and I are still living in our first home, which I am sad to say is a newly built townhome. However, we updated all the baths prior to moving in. Coincidentally, my realtor was tearing down his guest house and had an old cast iron tub that he was throwing out. I snatched it up and took it to get it refinished. To this day, it is my absolute favorite thing in the house.
The date stamped on the bottom was dated 1918. Can you imagine how many people have bathed in that tub? So amazing.
So today, I give my tribute to the freestanding tub. Go out today and rescue one from the salvage yard. You won't be disappointed.

My Dream House of the Week

My husband and I decided to start having a weekend excursion. This last weekend we drove to a little town outside of Dallas to explore. The town is filled with old Victorians from the mid 1800's. I fell in love.
My new dream house needs alot of work. But it has such great structure.


This is how I would decorate it.

Dachshund Love

OK. I couldn't resist.
I am bringing in photographer Aimee Herring next week for a photo shoot here in Dallas. As I perused her website, I couldn't help but fall in love with this image.
As a fellow Dachshund lover I had to share.
Aside from the pillows. What a gorgeous room. Love the color palette. The legs on that table are sexy!

I have these pillows in my own house.
Do you think it would be overkill to have both...?

You just don't see hall trees anymore...

I have been pouring through the estate sales starting this weekend and came across this great hall tree.
Honestly, you just don't see these much anymore. The new trend is a credenza with a mirror above and a bench below. Everyone's doing it...even me.
But something about his hall tree sparked my interest. I love the burl wood detail and the simple bezel mirror.
Wouldn't it be great lacquered black?
Though these are a item of yesteryear. Lets think. How great would this be in the used in kitchen or in the master bath. I wonder what it would look like converted to hold a modern bowl sink?
I tried to find tears to illustrate. But believe it or not..it's nearly impossible.
I found one (very fuzzy) image on the la maison fou blog. Just imagine the bowl in the middle to be a sink. Would work perfectly!
